Bridging Continents: The Ryomgaard Students’ Visit to the Mara
Every March, the Karen Blixen Camp is infused with a special kind of energy as we welcome students from the Ryomgaard Realskole in Denmark. This annual visit is far more than a typical safari; it is a deep, immersive educational experience that bridges continents and cultures.
During their stay last month, the students stepped out of their comfort zones and into the heart of the Mara North Conservancy. Our guides took them on extensive educational drives, teaching them how to read the landscape, track wildlife, and understand the delicate balance of this world-renowned ecosystem. But the true magic happened during their cultural exchanges. The students spent time with local Maasai youth, sharing stories, playing sports, and learning about traditional ways of life that have sustained this land for centuries.
For the students, it is an eye-opening journey into conservation and community. For us at the camp, it is a joyful reminder of the importance of educating the next generation of global citizens. We are incredibly proud of this ongoing partnership and look forward to welcoming the next class!
